Pam Barker

Pam lives in Monroe within 15 miles of the Fermi nuclear plant.  As a child she lived on Swan Creek in Newport and Fermi was “in her front yard.”  She wasn’t happy when Detroit Edison (now DTE) purchased the property to build Fermi.

Detroit Edison chopped down all the trees  and the bald eagles flew away because their nests were gone, and Pam became an early environmentalist.

She is involved with Sierra Club, NRDC, CRAFT, Nature Conservancy and, of course, Alliance to Halt Fermi.  Pam retired as Executive Officer of The Home Builders Association of Monroe after 13 years in the building industry.
